How to Replace a DVD Player on a Town
How to Replace a DVD Player on a Town & Country Once you break down the
process of replacing a DVD player on a Chrysler Town and Country, you will find
the task is less intimidating than it originally sounded. There are no wires to
install to the vehicle because you are using the already existing wires that
power the overhead dome light. Installation of the overhead DVD player requires
common household tools and does not demand any special knowledge or skills.
Things you'll need: Flathead screwdriver,Utility knife,Drill with 10/24 size
machine, tap drill bit,Phillips-head screwdriver Instructions 1. Work the
flathead screwdriver under the base of the dome light. Wiggle the head around to
create room between the dome light and the ceiling. When the dome light is
loose, remove the dome light from the ceiling nook. Unplug the wire harness from
the dome light and tuck the wires up into the ceiling nook. 2. Hold the mounting
bracket of the overhead DVD mount over the ceiling nook so that it lies flat
against the ceiling. Cut the headliner from the ceiling of the van surrounding
the mounting bracket. Remove the mounting bracket and the cut piece of headliner
from the ceiling. Remove the wire harness from the ceiling nook and place it
through the opening in the mounting bracket. 3. Hold the bracket back up to the
ceiling over the area with the removed headliner. Use a drill with the machine
tap drill bit to create a hole in each corner of the mounting bracket. Continue
drilling through the bracket into the ceiling but not through the ceiling. The
10/24 size machine tap drill bit ensures you do not drill through the ceiling.
4. Insert the mounting screws from the DVD mount through the bracket and use a
Phillips-head screwdriver to tighten them into the ceiling Porsche
Piwis Tester II. The holes made by the machine tap drill bit are threaded
and made to hold the screws in place. Plug the wire harness into the DVD player.
Slide the DVD player onto the bracket so it locks into place Car Diagnostic Tool. Insert a DVD into
the player to make sure it works. If not, check the plug of the wire harness to
make sure it's plugged in firmly to the player.
